The Hand of the Lord – Our Miracle of Financial Reversal

Brigham and I have seen the hand of the Lord in our lives this week as we prayed over our flocks and fields (our piano store).

Alma 34: 18 Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save.

19 Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him.

20 Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks.

21 Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening.

22 Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies.

23 Yea, cry unto him against the devil, who is an enemy to all righteousness.

24 Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them.

25 Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase.

26 But this is not all; ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness.

27 Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those who are around you.

A crazy thing occurred in our business.  We had the very best month in the history of our career in October 2015.  We were thrilled that our efforts and hard work were paying off in a big way and we were going to be putting aside some good funds to increase our savings and security.  Then November 2015 happened and we were dumbfounded. Traditionally, November is one of our top 4 months in sales and profit each year.  Yet this year, we were nearing the final quarter of the month and found ourselves puzzling and stressing over having only sold 2 pianos!!!  That would be our worst month of our career ever.  How could these two months be side by side?

We had abundant questions of why and what is happening.  We were working just as hard as ever. Once we hit the 20th, panic and stress began to set in as this was beginning to look like a month of financial crisis.  We had no indicators as to what could have possibly brought on this drought.  We were praying for help.  Then, the morning of November 23rd, we really prayed for help.  We prayed a prayer of true pleading.  I prayed that morning during our couple’s prayer,

I asked: (pleaded)

“Dear God, We PLEAD with thee to intervene and provide the assistance we need to make the books work for this month.  We don’t know what else to do and call upon thy divine aide to help our family business.”

I went to the temple seeking solutions and answers, hoping that God would place words and ideas into my mind that would solve our baffling sales problem.  I had many beautiful thoughts and felt the spirit providing comfort, specifically,

I received:

“Work hard and have faith that God will provide.  Trust in Him!”

Despite this comforting “thought”, I felt disappointed, leaving the temple with no real tangible plan or revealed solution as to how to fix our desperate situation. He has spoken to me and provided answers so frequently at other times, why not now when I was “pleading” with such urgency?

As I drove home, I continued to connect with Him and seek divine solutions.  As I arrived in our driveway, I felt a clear directive that I needed to get my kids set up at home to self manage themselves for the day and I needed to get to the store to help there.  I acted upon that prompting and set things in order at home, quickly driving myself to get to work at the store.  Upon arriving, I felt the guidance of the spirit as He specifically led me to task after task of evaluating the systems, gaps and needs of the business.  I felt Him working with me as I worked to heal this difficult month and to seek his aid in correcting the massive deficit of income.

By the end of the day, we had experienced a title wave of a financial miracle, in answer to our prayer of pleading.  He did indeed, “provide” as he promised at the temple that he would.  As I went home that day, we were sufficiently richer to no longer have any concerns for the month. We were ecstatic to find that 2 pianos we had sold the month before, had payments come in late that were not yet accounted for in our “best month ever” and thus would account for income for November.  Another duo of late, unanticipated payments were received by other customers. Miraculously, absolutely miraculously, a family from Phoenix drove up to Utah County and “happened” to find our piano store and “spontaneously” decided to purchase a Hailun 178 grand piano at full price. They didn’t even set out to purchase a piano and yet the Lord guided them to us and both of our lives were blessed that day.

A few days later, we sold 4 pianos in a single day.  That had never happened before. God is good and His promises are sure!  We must rely on his almighty arm and trust that as we call upon His name, He will provide ALL that is needful. He did provide all that was needful for us in a single day and more abundant blessings thereafter.  We went from financial despair and crisis with only 2 piano sales, to financial gain and month end profitability in one singular miraculous day.  Thank heaven for prayer, for temples, for divine aid and for my dear friend and mentor, my God. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
